The most recent advance in vehicle safety has to be the autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) – a sophisticated suite of sensors and electronics that monitors objects in front of your car, automatically applying the brakes for you if it senses you’re heading to hit something. Up until now these auto-brake features have not been rated, but ahead of a new 2014 test that will include AEB systems in its overall safety star scoring, Euro NCAP has put the some of the vehicles already equipped with this technology through their paces. The 2015 Audi A3 sedan will be appearing in dealerships in a few months, and the trim and pricing details have been announced for the U.S. market. The engines on offer on this side of the pond are a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 170-hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder coupled with Quattro all-wheel drive, making 200-hp an 258 lb-ft of torque.
New Qoros at Geneva 2014 – looks like a Crossover/SUV
Chinese car maker Qoros – hoping to make inroads in to the European market with its Qoros 3 saloon – is heading for the Geneva Motor Show in March with a new model, teased today in a pair of photos. Qoros’s first production model – the Qoros 3 – arrived in production guise at Geneva this year as a convincing – if generic -looking – four-door saloon, which we did think an odd route to go to break in to Europe. But the next Qoros – previewed here in a couple of teaser photos – looks to be a production version of the Qoros Cross Hybrid Concept Qoros showed at Geneva and a much better route to grabbing a slice of Europe’s car sales.
